Future Progressive / Continuous Tense is used to make a sentence that indicates something will occur in the future and continue for an expected length of time.


Ways to form the Future Progressive / Continuous Tense



Affirmative Sentence

The formula for Future Progressive / Continuous Tense Affirmative Sentence is as such:

Subject + shall / will + be + Verb ('ing' form) + Object (optional)

Example:

I shall be living in New Delhi.
He will be playing cricket.

Negative Sentence

The formula for Future Progressive / Continuous Tense Negative Sentence is as such:

Subject + shall / will + not + be + Verb ('ing' form) + Object (optional)

Example:

I shall not be coming to school.
They will not be waiting for you.

Interrogative Sentence

The formula for Future Progressive / Continuous Tense Interrogative Sentence is as such:

Shall / will + Subject + be + Verb ('ing' form) + Object (optional)

Example:

Will she be listening to music?
Will they be going to work every day?

Negative Interrogative Sentence

The formula for Future Progressive / Continuous Tense Negative Interrogative Sentence is as such:

Shall / will + Subject + not + be + Verb ('ing' form) + Object (optional)

Will she not be listening to music?
Will they not be playing football every day?

Uses of Future Progressive / Continuous Tense

The Future Progressive / Continuous Tense are mainly used as:

1. To talk about an action that will normally occur in the future

For example

I shall be working hard for exams.
They will be going to work every day.

2. To talk about progressing action at a given point of time in the future

For example:

She will be listening to music at night.
They will be going to Mumbai tomorrow evening.
