Practical English Grammar

Person in the English Grammar is the distinction of the addresser, the addressee, and addressed about. There are three kinds of persons.

1. First Person (I - singular, we – plural) – The first person is the person who is speaking.

2. Second Person (you – singular as well as plural) –The second person is the person spoken to.

3. Third Person (He, she, it – singular, they – plural) – The third person is the person spoken about.

Example:

I am reading. (The pronoun "I" is used as a first person singular)
We are going to watch movie. (The pronoun "we" is used as a first person plural)
You enjoy listening to music. (The pronoun "you" is used as a second person singular)
The gifts are for all of you. (The pronoun "you" is used as a second person plural)
He is a great lover of organic food. (The pronoun "he" is used as a third person singular)
She is a good girl. (The pronoun "she" is used as a third person singular)
It is good. (The pronoun "it" is used as a third person singular)
They are nice people. (The pronoun "they" is used as a third person plural)
